Got Brows? $10 Special If You Tell 'Em Ruthie Sent You!

This post has nothing to do with art or directly with "The DSC." But it has to do with some people whom I adore and they want to make you an offer I hope you can't refuse. They also happen to be big fans of "The DSC."

 Annie and Sean

Annie will wax your brows for only $10 if you call Hairspray at 619-297-9333 for an appointment and tell her Ruthie sent you! Usually it's $20 and the web special is $15. But they're running an extra special to help raise money to pay for their float in the San Diego Gay Pride Parade. Hairspray has won top honors in previous years, but couldn't afford to enter last year. They didn't want to miss out this year, so they set up this special deal to help defray the costs.

Sean and Annie Hartigan own Hairspray Salon in Hillcrest on University Ave. at 3th St.  I've been spending my money there for years. The atmosphere is always fun and uplifting. The stylists smile obviously enjoy working there. I always leave smiling and looking fabulous.

Have you ever been to a salon where no one smiles at you or even bothers talking to you? That won't happen at Hairspray, who bills its self as a "high energy, snob-free salon." And it's true. Really fun people work there. That's one of the main reasons why I love going there.

Plus, they have very talented stylists and offer a ton of services including hair, waxing, skincare, make up, tanning and beauty products. Check out their full menu here.

This is my girl Ann, who does my cut and color. Isn't she gorgeous?! I've had a crush on her for years:: blush:::

Don't forget to say hello to Rocky when you stop in for a new do. Here he is dressed in his costume for this weekend's parade.

As you can tell, the crew at Hairspray really puts a lot of work into their floats and it's paid off in the past when they won the grand prize. They usually use the prize money for upgrades on the salon.

Here are a few ads from years past. These people love to laugh and enjoy their customers. I always look forward to my visits there.

Have you ever cracked up laughing while you had your brows done? Well, you will when you let Annie do them! She is one of the funniest people I know. Plus she has a voice like Minnie Mouse, so half of what she says sounds funny just because of that. Make sure and ask her to tell you some stories about trying to order a pizza over the phone or the reaction of waiters when they heard her speak for the first time. Annie has called into "The DSC Show" a few times and even started a bit. Make sure and ask about that too. The girl is a riot!

Annie also wax's men's brows and she promises not to over groom them so you look like a girl - unless that's the look you're going for! But she'll get rid of that uni-brow and stop you from looking like Andy Rooney. She even wax's ear hair - yikes!

Andy Rooney needs to call Annie ASAP!

Isn't this much better?!

I promise you will enjoy your experience at Hairspray. Call today and make an appointment. And if you go to the San Diego Gay Pride Parade on Saturday, make sure and cheer them on!

  2. Pug Rescue of San Diego has a float and a "stroller brigade" of pugs in strollers every year. I had hoped to make it this year but I've got visiting relatives.
